I knew things could get rough at a hedge fund when we went through big shifts in both our client base and our available capital like this.

But I hadn’t lived through it yet. So I had no idea just how hard it would be to navigate, for all of us.

The coffee machine is on constantly. I’m filled with a sense of dread every morning when I print out our performance reports.

Tristan Holdings don’t give us much time to breathe before their retaliate. And the blow comes hard.

Left and right, we have investors who want their money back, and clients who want to back out of done deals we negotiated with them.

The contracts we have with our investors and clients are meant to protect us from this kind of thing, of course. In exactly three months, all the money they invested in us will be sent back to them.

In those three months, we could land on our feet. Hypothetically. It could be that we stock up on earnings and new investors to make up for the incoming hole in our capital.

Or, it could be that we don’t land on our feet.

And we’ll be left bleeding out like a stuck pig.

It’s so unfair that we might be getting treated like this. It’s brutal. I can’t help but see some sort of personal grudge in it.

I haven’t let Mr Fletcher in on the fact that I know this is something to do with his in-laws. But if this is how they treat him… then they really mustn’t make a particularly happy family.
